The White House on Friday announced plans to release $1.7 billion in funding to help the CDC and states more effectively track and combat coronavirus variants, some of which have proven to be more transmissible than the original strain.

@CNN If the White House wants to stop the spread of Covid variants @USAID needs to support @WHO’s #COVAX program and export vaccines. Variants will continue to develop and spread wherever unvaccinated populations are present. This is a global and not just a domestic problem.
@CNN This is fantastic news! Oregon hasn't been tracking variants to the degree that is needed because of the cost, and only recently have begun to test for these.
